• Black screen with white underscore at startup

    Hi,
after upgrading recently I only get a black screen with an underscore when booting my laptop. I use Antergos with Cinnamon and have an Nvidia GeForce MX150 and an IGPU Intel Corporation UHD Graphics 620 (Whiskey Lake). I can access tty and when running
    sudo startx
    I get the following output:

I tried to blacklist the intel drivers, rebuilding the boot image, explicitly writing the Nvidia module into mkinitcpio.conf, but none of this worked.
Here are the Xorg and xsession-errors logs.
Does anybody have an idea how to fix this?

  • @twinrix said in Black screen with white underscore at startup:

    Nvidia GeForce MX150

    tried using non-proprietary driver?

    sudo pacman -S nvidia-installer
    sudo nvidia-installer -n

  • Yes, I tried that, but it didn’t make a difference.
I solved it by deleting the xorg.conf and .xinitrc, now everything works again.

  • @twinrix thats nice! xorg.conf should not be used at all new files are under /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d if i rember right
