• Dropbox install fails with PGP error

    Hi-

Trying to install Dropbox on an Antergos reinstall. I’m getting the following error:

    Downloading dropbox (70.4.93-1-x86_64)...
    Checking keyring...
    Checking integrity...
Error: dropbox: signature from "Antergos Build Server (Automated Package Build System) <[email protected]>" is unknown trust
    Failed to commit transaction:
invalid or corrupted package (PGP signature):

    Preparing...
    Resolving dependencies...
    Checking inter-conflicts...
    Transaction cancelled.

Any suggestions on how to fix?

    Thanks!

  • try:

    sudo pacman -Sc
    sudo pacman-key --init
    sudo pacman-key --populate archlinux antergos
    sudo pacman-key --refresh-keys
    sudo pacman -Syyu

  • Thanks.

When I get to this step, it fails:

    sudo pacman-key --refresh-keys
gpg: refreshing 116 keys from hkps://hkps.pool.sks-keyservers.net
gpg: keyserver refresh failed: Server indicated a failure
==> ERROR: A specified local key could not be updated from a keyserver.

  • Perhaps I need to point to another keyserver?

Not sure where to find the config file to change this.

I thought it was /etc/pacman.d/gnupg/gpg.conf but that doesn’t seem to be the case.

  • @trey I just installed dropbox with no issues. You may need to try what @joekamprad suggest again.

  • @ricklinux @joekamprad

Thank you both. Running the commands again I’m getting hung at the same spot:

[email protected] ~/Downloads $ sudo pacman -Sc

  • @trey Maybe remove all cached packages. Note extra “c”

    sudo pacman -Scc
    sudo pacman-key --init
    sudo pacman-key --populate archlinux antergos
    sudo pacman-key --refresh-keys
    sudo pacman -Syyu
  • @ricklinux

Thank you. Tried again (using ‘sudo pacman -Scc’ first) and still getting the same error about a local key could not be updated from the keyserver.

  • later or earlier Antergos packages and Repo will not work anymore… it is not updated anymore.

you can also install dropbox from AUR from Terminal:

    gpg --recv-keys 1C61A2656FB57B7E4DE0F4C1FC918B335044912E
    yay -S aur/dropbox

  • @joekamprad I know everything is in a state of flux right now. But, is it possible that @trey has an issue with a mirror or something because i just installed dropbox again on one of my other computers and it installed no problem again.

  • @joekamprad @ricklinux

Thank you @joekamprad . Those commands allowed me to complete the install
