• Lxterminal transparency

    Hi,

I just want to get my terminal transparent. Always and without any error.

I added “compton-trans -c 70” to my bashrc. But until i manually used the command, an error accurs on the top of my terminal.

    Bad Window ID

    or

    X Error: 9: Bad Drawable: 0x1400061
    Request Major code: 14
    Request serial number: 3
xwininfo: error: No such window with id 0x1400061\.
    Failed to find window.

How can I get all my terminal be transparent without errors?

    Cheers,
    Heinz

  • Hi,

Which Desktop Environment are you using?

  • I’m using the standard openbox installation.

  • You can use compton for that. It is loaded in the default setup.

Did you install openbox flavour with the installer?

Check that you’re loading compton. Should be called in ~/.config/openbox/autostart

Edit that file and add this line if it’s not there:

    compton --config ~/.config/compton.conf --shadow-exclude 'n:a:Conky' -b &

Oh, and install compton if you don’t have it.

    EDIT:

You can download a config file for compton from our github account.

    Cheers!

  • Compton is installed and

    ps -aux | grep compton

    says

    matthias 610 0.1 0.0 76536 3332 ? Ss 07:49 0:11 compton --config /home/matthias/.config/compton.conf --shadow-exclude n:a:Conky -b

    but still no transparency…

  • Hi,

Then it’s simply a matter of changing the lxterminal profile.

    Have you already done it?

  • Install the Xfce Terminal with the command : yaourt -S xfce4-terminal
