• Problems with Dual Boot Installation of Live USB Stick

Password is recognized. It is only not visible during input. No, I did not install os-prober. You would have to help me?

  • @mr-ed sudo pacman -S os-prober

    Then run: sudo os-prober

    Then run:

    sudo grub-mkconfig -o /boot/grub/grub.cfg

  • @joekamprad Sorry, i looked back in his original post and it is a normal ssd but os-prober doesn’t look like it was installed. The m.2 drives sometimes can be finicky with installing in dual boot with Linux on the same drive.

  • @mr-ed So now run the other commands and it should work.

    First run:
    sudo os-prober

    Then Run:
    sudo grub-mkconfig -o /boot/grub/grub.cfg

  • @mr-ed Can you run just os-prober without sudo and show me because it should be coming up with the path.

  • @mr-ed Can you install lsb-release.

    sudo pacman -S lsb-release

    Then run:

    os-prober

  • [[email protected] ~]$ os-prober

  • @mr-ed okay so it looks like it’s working. Try again but use root privileges.

    Try again:

    sudo os-prober

  • I do not have a linux machine here to try or test anything… I do answear only out of my head ;)
But yes it should give some output…

  • @ricklinux

    [[email protected] ~]$ sudo os-prober

    [[email protected] ~]$

  • @mr-ed Did you install lsb-release?

    sudo pacman -S lsb-release

  • No. I did not. I’ll try in a few minutes.

  • @joekamprad os-prober is installed but when root doesn’t show anything happening. When used as non root it shows an attempt to access. I still think it is having an issue probing the EFI partition because of the secure boot keys possibly even though secure boot is off. What do you think? On my system i unloaded the keys as they are either automatically generated or manually if you are using secure boot. This is to protect the efi partition on boot so no programs can access. What are your thoughts? I have asked him to install lsb-release also for query other os.

  • [[email protected] ~]$ sudo pacman -S lsb-release

  • @mr-ed Now run os-prober again.

    sudo os-prober

  • @mr-ed There are a bunch of updates and a new kernel so why don’t you update and reboot and see what happens. The new kernel is 5.0.8

    sudo pacman -Syu

  • I don’t know. We are now here on page 7. I wonder if this is still interesting for all users. Maybe we should open a new thread under “Newbies”, e.g. with the topic “Antergos installed - Windows lost” or something.
