• There is no CPU sensor on Mate Sensors Applet

    Expected behaviour

libsensors should be in there to show CPU temp.

    Actual behaviour

There is no libsensors to show CPU temp. Only Udisks2 and Nvidia.

    Steps to reproduce the behaviour

Add Hardware Sensors Monitor to a panel

    MATE general version

    MATE 1.20.4

    Package version

    1.20.2

    Linux Distribution

    Antergos 64 bit 4.20.12-arch1-1-ARCH #1 SMP PREEMPT

    How to fix this?

  • @wilmanzendart

    Hi!
AFAIK there was mate-extra extensions to be installed which contained many extra stuff, including some panel utilities like sensors (probably will work with sensors program too).

    install with:
    sudo pacman -S mate-extra

and add the sensors to your panel.

Actually i’ve already know and have that sensors program. What i’m asking for is, the solution to my problem with that mate-sensors-applet itself. I need CPU temp to show up on my panel.

Can’t find anything useful for Mate, sorry.

But there are many other solutions/workarounds capable of showing the CPU temperature, for example:

    • glances
    • inxi (AUR package)
    • psensors
    • sensors-applet
    • plasma5-applets-thermal-monitor

    to name a few.

The first two are my personal favorites. The others I haven’t really used, so can’t say much about them.

can the first two be displayed on the panel?

  • @wilmanzendart
    Probably not.
Well, if you know how to make a plugin for the panel, then probably yes…

  • @wilmanzendart ma lm_sensors needs to be used to get the right modules loaded?
