• broadcom-wl from antergos repo not working

I have a laptop with a bcm4313 card which doesn’t work with broadcom-wl provided by antergos (i can’t load it with modprobe). I found that same packege in the arch community repository, which works flawlessly.
    broadcom-wl-dkms also works.

So, my cuestion is, can anyone remove broadcom-wl from antergos repo and use the one found in arch community repo?

By the way this is my first post so i don’t know if i selected the right place to post it or if this is the way anyone should ask for this.

  • @alerum
I don’t know why there is an Antergos version of it, since Arch version is newer.

    @developers may change it.

If this Antergos version is really needed, it should be renamed to e.g. broadcom-wl-6.30.223.271-6 and let the Arch version be the default.

You may use the dkms version (until this is resolved), there should be no harm with it.

  • EDIT by manuel: sorry, I accidentally edited your post! Sorry for that. Didn’t even know it is possible…

I meant to say that you can keep using the dkms version until this is resolved.
And thanks for the heads up!

  • There are other applications like pamac etc which are not updated on constant basis. How to remove these ones and install newer ones from arch repositories.

is in community so @developers may remove it from Antergos repository ?

  • I wrote a simple script that installs an Arch package instead of an Antergos package. You just need to give the name of the package, and the script downloads it from an Arch repo and install it.

Note that it hasn’t been tested very thoroughly, so use it at your own risk. It shouldn’t break anything, and if the package doesn’t work, you may easily uninstall it and install the official Antergos package with your favorite package manager.

    Here’s a link to the PKGBUILD: https://github.com/manuel-192/Antergos/raw/master/arch-get/PKGBUILD

    To install it, do this:

    cd /tmp
    wget -O PKGBUILD https://github.com/manuel-192/Antergos/raw/master/arch-get/PKGBUILD
    makepkg -sic

To use it e.g. to the thread’s problem, do this:

    arch-get broadcom-wl

and it install the Arch version of that package.
