• AMD ucode not detected by grub

Hi I installed AMD ucode when I run grub-mkconfig I get this:

    [[email protected] ~]$ sudo grub-mkconfig -o /boot/grub/grub.cfg
    [sudo] heslo pre používateľa shads:
    Generating grub configuration file ...
    Found theme: /boot/grub/themes/Antergos-Default/theme.txt

    Found fallback initramfs image: /boot/initramfs-linux-lts-fallback.img
Found Windows Boot Manager on /dev/[email protected]/efi/Microsoft/Boot/bootmgfw.efi

    I checked the amd-ucode is in /boot
    Could someone help me please.

    Thank you

    Could you run command

    sudo cat /boot/grub/grub.cfg | curl -F [email protected] https://ptpb.pw/?u=1

and copy the returned short net address here?

  • @Shadow86sk
Sorry, don’t know why it is not there, I have no machine with AMD CPU so I can’t test it.

But you may write (as a small test) file /boot/grub/custom.cfg and copy a menuentry from grub.cfg into that new file. Then you can add
    /boot/amd-ucode.img
to the initrd line right after the initrd word.

After reboot you should see a new menu entry as last, and it has amd-ucode image configured.

  • if image is present under /boot grub-mkconfig must detect it…

  • @joekamprad AMD ucode in /boot
It is there so I have no idea why wouldnt it be detected.

@manuel I could write it manualy in but I am afraid when a new update come or so it will rewright the grub file so I would rather that it detects it.

On my old Intel build I never had such a problem with the intel ucode. so I wonder if I am the only one or there are more amd users that just didnt notice this.

  • i just install it here and i get it detected on update grub.cfg:

     sudo grub-mkconfig -o /boot/grub/grub.cfg

File /boot/grub/custom.cfg will not be overwritten by the system, so it is safe to use.

Of course it should be detected by grub-mkconfig, but custom.cfg can be used as a workaround until the reason for this problem is solved.

  • Ok I have writen the /boot/amd-ucode.img manualy in to grub so far seems to work, we shall see how it holds up

thank you all for your input and time
