• \[SOLVED\] VM trouble

Has any one been able to install in to a VM? I have tried virtual box and vmware player with no successes. If you have what steps did you take to complete the install besides the normal set up.

Well let me back up I do the OS to install but I get a vanilla seen and nothing works, I have tried this for openbox and KDE, I got the same result.

    Thanks again for any assistance!

  • Have you read through the Arch Wiki for help? There is a lot of information on that page, but it should help get you moving forward.

I’ve seen some acknowledgment that there are some underlying issues trying to use VMWare, but I cannot get a VirtualBox install of Antergos to fail. It works for me, every time. I’ve had to tussle with a couple of the BSD releases on VB, but Antergos just falls on like it belongs there.

  • Thanks for the wiki link. I was able to resolve my issue. Since I’m making the switch from Win 7 over to Linux I wanted to boot up in a VM first. I had to go to a slightly older version of virtualbox. VirtualBox 4.3.12.93733 to be exact if anyone else runs across this in the future.

    So far I’ve tried:

Manjaro OpenBox, XFCE: They were ok…
ArchBang: Maybe later, my time is a little tight at the moment.
Antergos OpenBox: So far I love this distro!

  • Hey, good news! I’m happy to hear you were able to get it sorted and working. I think examining Linux through VirtualBox is a good idea for Windows users. It gives you a chance to see how it ‘fits’.

    Welcome to Antergos!
