• Cannot Enter LUKS Password at System Boot

My Antergos setup is set up with encrypted LVM and requires the entry of a password to boot. After a system reboot yesterday, I was no longer able to get past this prompt to decrypt the system drive:

    starting version 239

A password is required to access the cryptAntergos volume:
    Enter passphrase for [volume]: _

The keyboard is a Logitech wired USB keyboard. It works in the BIOS and GRUB, and I’m able to boot the machine in fallback mode at least. I’ve done this and was able to update the system, but I still cannot get through this prompt.

Maybe there’s something about the environment it’s booting in restricting the keyboard input that differs with fallback mode.

  • kernel issue ?

    MAY TRY REGENERATING KERNEL IMAGES:

    sudo mkinitcpio -p linux
if this do not help try install and booting with LTS kernel:

    sudo pacman -S linux-lts linux-lts-headers

and make sure to install related nvidia drivers if you have such (GPU) hardware and make use of it …

then reboot and choose LTS from advanced boot menu …

  • Actually the mkinitcpio fixed it right up. I’ll keep the LTS kernel in mind for the future though, sounds like a useful troubleshooting step.
