• Proper drivers

Sorry if my question is silly. After the installation of Antergos do i have to install drivers for my hardware (motherboard, graphic card) or the installation programm detects the hardware and install automaticaly the proper drivers?

  • kernel holds most of needed drivers for hardware, you do not need to install them.

Only some Graphiccards and some hardware needs something extra installed.

For example if you want to play games on a nvidia GPU it is may needed to install propritary nvidia driver for the card to get full speeds…

If you want us to take a look onto your hardware give us some specs:

    lspci > log.txt && lsusb >> log.txt && cat log.txt | curl -F [email protected] https://ptpb.pw/?u=1

simple copy paste this line inside a terminal, it will give out a url you can post here what is linking to a pastebin of your specs…

is integrated intel graphics so nothing special to install extra…
If you do not have problems like tearing on playing video all is configured automatic.

  • Ok my friend. Thanks a lot

Sorry if my question is silly.

There are no silly questions, only there are questions and nobody is born knowing!

    :)

  • @joekamprad I have subscribed to Netflix, and in Chromium i notice choppy video and bad frame rate. Is there something i can do?

  • Sure… may setting up direct gpu rendering inside chromium, or set option for intel driver.

I can have a look later (+8h) i have to cook now.

  • @joekamprad Sure my friend. Food above all 🤣. I be waiting

  • @andreasdimo79
Do you have tearing screens also in Youtube or another streaming video provider?
Also, which widevine version do you have installed, if you use the one from the AUR, that one is out of date.

  • @Bryanpwo Bad framerate and only in Netflix. I use widevine from the official repository

  • Try it with Firefox or Vivaldi, the Chromium-widevine version in the repo is slightly behind i.c.w. the widevine versions those two browsers use.

  • @Bryanpwo to use chrome is a good idea? And others settings i can do for better results?

  • Yes, it’s only a check to rule out if Netflix has a problem with the chromium-widevine version from the repo.

  • @joekamprad Any ideas now?

  • Tearing
The SNA acceleration method causes tearing on some machines. To fix this, enable the “TearFree” option in the driver by adding the following line to your configuration file:

    sudo nano /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/20-intel.conf
    and paste this

    Section "Device"
      Identifier "Intel Graphics"
      Driver "intel"
      Option "TearFree" "true"
    EndSection

    save with [Ctrl+X]

  • yay -S aur/chromium-widevine

to change to AUR version of widivine.

    (what @Bryanpwo was sayin)

open chromium and type this url:

    chrome://flags/

    0_1544643520682_Bildschirmfoto vom 2018-12-12 20-37-57.png

    • Override software rendering list - Enable

    • Enable GPU rasterization - Force enabled

To see if it is enabled/working:

    type chrome://gpu

  • @joekamprad thank you my friend…but you didnt tell me…what have you cook? I am curius
