• Black Screen On Boot Nvidia

Hi. I wanted to configure bumblebee for my laptop (Dell 7420) with a gt640m and i7-3612qm. I followed the instructions for the first bios type on the antergos bumblebee wiki and when I restarted the system I got a black screen with a blinking cursor. I would appreciate any help. What are the logs I need to provide? Tnx

you may missed something… as dm is not starting links mostly to not working GPU Driver…

  • @joekamprad I uninstalled nouveau. Upgraded the system, installed all stated packages, added myself to the bumblee and video group, enabled the service and rebooted. Is there something I missed?

  • it also looks like boot failed to activate network…

But if you can reach internet, you can switch to virtual console by pressing [Ctrl+Alt+F2] and install nvidia-installer:

    https://antergos.com/wiki/hardware/graphics/antergos-nvidia-installer-2/

as it can install also bumblebee:

-b, --bumblebee For Nvidia Optimus cards (Bumblebee + proprietary Nvidia drivers)

    sudo nvidia-installer -b

    or revert to nouveau:

    sudo nvidia-installer -n

  • @joekamprad Yeah looks like it but the enps0 is fine so I have LAN. Should I uninstall everything related to bumblebee and nvidia and try the installer? Or just use it without uninstalling

  • @joekamprad So I uninstalled everything related to bumblebee and nvidia and ran the nvidia installer using the bumblebee setting and it booted into the system. I’ll test it out for some time to see if it does something weird. I’ll report back once things seem to be stable. TY for the suggestion 😁

  • you are welcome!

And please mark as solved if you are sure it is ;)
