• Cnchi broken?

when i boot the 2014.08.04 iso cnchi does not appear when i start it from gnome the curser gets the busy animation for 10 seconds and nothing after that and when i do alt+f2 and type cnchi-dev i get a notification that says updating cnchi or whatever its supposed to say i let it sit for a minute and nothing.

everything else seems to be working fine.

also i get this on my uefi laptop and on uefi virtualbox, i did not try bios.

  • Hi.
I have downloaded the new Iso, but Cnchi don’t work.
The Cnchi “installer” (not in graphic mode) , stop itself at the mount of the “/” partition.
    thanks.

  • I’v tried everything…

Reinstall cnchi, setup cnchi-dev from git, nothing works…

  • It’s look like buggy snapshot for me… Any way to get your logs, guys? Or maybe output after starting cnchi within terminal (graphical cnchi started from console, to be precise).

  • Why why why didn’t I read the forum before attempting install !!!

Booted from live cd, the GUI installer doesn’t apper (booted fine to the desktop though).
Tried launching it from menu, with alt+f2 and the cnchi-dev…nothing.

Tried CLI then. Worked fine till the install step. Then lots of error messages appear and it renders the system unbootable.
Now I can’t even boot my Winows partition!!!

    Buggy buggy buggy as hell!

PLEASE put a warning on the download page or somewhere visible as to alert new users of potential problems!

    Hope it gets fixed soon.

    UPDATE*

The problem is caused by the latest update to gnu parted which breaks the pyparted module. Cnchi relies on pyparted to interact with libparted. New iso’s are being built. In the meantime you can workaround the issue by doing this:

    su
    pacman -Syy yaourt
    yaourt -S downgrader
    downgrader parted
    cnchi -dv

    Best Regards,

    Gnome in my case.

  • Gnome here too and same errors

  • I have had a similar experience, I managed to boot into the live Gnome desktop and couldn’t run the graphical installer. I managed to run the CLI installer to completion but with various errors. I decided to reboot after installation but the UUID in grub.cfg was incorrect, so I reloaded the live CD and fixed grub.cfg only to notice that the /boot folder was missing vmlinuz-linux and all of the other files that are supposed to be in there.

Conclusion - a broken install beyond my level of intervention.

Well, I hope the team can sort it out because they seem to be doing an excellent job so far.

  • Gnome here too.

  • KDE worked fine using lots.0.logs downgrade method!

  • Tried the new ISO (2014.08.06), cnchi now starts successfully but got another error at the end of installation, during system configuration (tested both Cinnamon and Gnome).

same pops up after installer has downloaded all the packages.

Unfortunately I can’t do that right now, but if no one is willing to do it, I could do it by this Saturday.

In my case, I chose Advanced partition option (the partition table was already in place, just set the mount points for root, home and swap and ticked format options).

But if my memory is not failing me, when looking over the log file this morning, I copied the text beginning with the line just below the last successful download message till the end of file and posted it here. Above it were just lines mentioning all the packages downloaded. Didn’t look at the beginning of the file though, don’t know if there was sth relevant there.

And the installer doesn’t crash…It just gets stuck at “Configuring your system”. (I waited around 30 minutes and no progress was shown).
