• LUKS usb install : device not found, emergency shell

Hi everyone, thanks for reading this

After a fresh USB install with LUKS encrypted root and last Antergos iso (18.10), I can’t start OS on my usb device after installation.

I have the following error :

ERROR: device 'UUID=xxxx' not found. Skipping fsck.

I tried lot of solutions and commands, like :

    • with arch-chroot, /boot and /boot/efi mounted
    mkinitcpio -p linux
    grub-mkconfig -o /boot/grub/grub.cfg

    • check UUID on additional GRUB parameters
    • check if “encrypt” and “filesystems” flags are present in HOOKS variable

Nothing works, I’m never asked for the LUKS partition password.

Does anyone have the same problem, solutions or leads to make?

    Thanks in advance

  • Hi,

I don’t know what is wrong, but have you checked your /etc/fstab and /etc/crypttab files?

Both on them are located in the encrypted root partition, so they’re loaded after, it doesn’t affect the boot time
