hi some one pls tell me what information stored in /var/log/Xorg.0.log ?

  • @poyan94
Here’s the background info: https://www.x.org/wiki/ and there they have a mailing list and archives.

  • @poyan94 said in xorg.log:

    /var/log/Xorg.0.log

X server information is usually logged in /var/log/Xorg.0.log, which can be consulted for errors or warnings if the server does not function as expected.

  • @joekamprad
tnx for help but can you explain in Simple language What exactly xorg does it do?

  • @poyan94 may we run in a Y-X-Problem here?

    http://xyproblem.info/

Also the way log files are working is generally Linux and not specific Antergos…

    What is stored inside /var/log/Xorg.0.log:

    cat /var/log/Xorg.0.log

it is logging events on starting the X-Server

As you can see in mine i was using NVIDIA driver so it shows also logs related to GPU

in front of each line you have a marker far the kind of logged information:

    (WW) = warning
    (EE) = errror
    (II) () (–) (==)** = informational

logged informations are: X-Server logs, GPU and its driver related logs, logs for inputdevices; logs from configurating Displays (optical output devices)

    There is:
Xorg.0.log --> log from latest start of X-Server
followed by 3 saved logs from before startings:
    Xorg.1.log
    Xorg.0.log.old
    Xorg.1.log.old

  • @joekamprad said in xorg.log:

    warning

    tnx a lot
