• Gnome Shell applications empty after update to Gnome 3.30

Since the update to Gnome 3.30 last week, I cannot see any application in Gnome Shell with my user anymore. Favorite applications in the left panel are still there and I can run all applications by their command, but all and most used applications are empty and typing some letters into Gnome Shell only shows “Search running…”.

This problem only applies to my user. For other users on the same system it works without problems.

Is there a user-specific index or cache or something simliar which I can clear to fix this? Or do you have any other clue? I couldn’t find something about this or a similar problem.

    Thanks in advance,

  • My problem was caused by a probably outdated shell extension. I solved it by removing the related folder from my user directory:

    rm -rf ~/.local/share/gnome-shell/extensions/[email protected]
  • Thanks for posting your solution, someone will surely help you!
