• Kernel Bug: 4.18.6 causes my Intel i7-770 to overheat.

    Since my kernel was updated to 4.18.6 two days ago, my Intel i7-7700 overheats. As I haven’t installed or changed anything onmy system since that upgrade and I had no heat problems with 4.18.5, I’d like to report this as a kernel bug.

  • This issue is caused by the updation of the kernel as well as the baseband version. I faced the similar issue on my hp laptop and took assistance on this problem from hp support australiawhere you can follow the experts to get the part.

  • Hi,

    @Jeannie____

    Thanks for reporting it (so others with the same problem will know what’s wrong). As you may know, we do not package the kernel… I’m afraid there is nothing we can do about it. This should be reported upstream.

    Can you use linux-lts while it is not solved?

    Cheers!

  • @Jeannie____
    Have you tried kernel 4.18.8?

    KDE/XFCE/i3-WM

    Everybody is a genius, but if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing its stupid.

  • Yes, same issue, massive overheating and fan control problems.
    The LTS kernel works though.
