• Keyboard not working on Install screen

    Hi, all.

As a fairly long time GNU/Linux user (1998>), I’ve tried most of the distros, and feel it’s time to make Antergos my new everyday distro.

I’ve downloaded the latest ISO, and also the minimal image.

The problem is, whether I boot from DVD or USB, whenever I get to the splashscreen, which includes the different kernel/ language/ display options, my keyboard (QWERTY UK) isn’t working.

I’ve tried different keyboards, and different USB ports. I also tried Manjaro, and had the same problem. If I try any other distro, such as Gentoo, Debian, Ubuntu, the keyboard is detected and works.

On the Antergos splash screen, the default option is to boot to HD0, which is what happens when no keyboard is detected. It would be better perhaps, if the live session was the default option, then without keyboard input, perhaps the OS would boot, and more keyboard support would be loaded.

Anyway, this is preventing me from making Antergos my ‘daily driver’

    Any thoughts,

    Cheers,

    chris_debian

    Hi,
the installer should have on screen keyboard usable with a mouse. That could help you get Antergos installed, although it is slower to use than actual keyboard. After install the keyboard probably works just fine.

    and show the URL.

  • Hi, Manuel.

I didn’t think of that. Sadly, no mouse pointer, either 😞

    Chris

  • @chris_debian
Can you check from e.g. Ubuntu installer what keyboard module/driver it it using on your machine?
    Maybe something like:

    lsmod | grep kb

Please report issues including all details! ;-)
Show files here: cat "file" | curl -F [email protected] https://ptpb.pw/?u=1
    and show the URL.

  • Will do. I have two different keyboards, so will post for each.

    Cheers,

    Chris.

  • No mention of keyboard in lsmod, but here is the output:

The KB and mouse are brand new, and I bought them because they were the bestselling on Amazon, so expected they would be well supported. I’ll now plug my other keyboard in and see what I get, whilst checking the Antergos boot screen…

  • I should add that keyboard and mouse are wired, not bluetooth.

  • never have heared that wired keyboard do not work under Antergos/Arch… do you try different poerts? may usb3 issue…

  • USB2 ports, have tried other ports and other keyboards, and as demonstrated, other OSs boot and recognise the two keyboards that I’ve tried.

    😞

  • @chris_debian TBH I’m also amazed. Does your machine have a PS/2 port for an older keyboard? If so, just thought as a longshot that a USB to PS/2 adapter might help. But don’t take this as a recommendation, but just an idea if nothing else works and you really need it.

  • @chris_debian BTW, how did you create the Antergos installer USB stick?
