• Lightdm wont fit on laptop screen?

    So when I got my shiny new Antergos setup and running somehow lightdm decided it didn’t want to be the right size on my login screen. My screen is 1920x1080 (Asus Q325UA) and for whatever reason it decided it would prefer to run at a lower resolution (I think 800x600) but from what little digging I’ve done everything seems to be showing the proper resolution.

    Haven’t seen this issue in any other distro I’ve ran on the laptop so far with lightdm, so curious if this is a bug or just something simple I’m missing. Anyways any help appreciated. :)

  • you can fix this by adding this under [Seat:*] to lightdm.conf:

    greeter-setup-script=/etc/lightdm/greeter_setup.sh

    then adding the script:

    sudo nano /etc/lightdm/greeter_setup.sh

    #!/bin/bash
    #xrandr --output HDMI-0 --primary
    #until [ xrandr ]; do sleep 1 done
    xrandr --output VGA-0 --mode 1920x1080 --pos 0x48 --rotate normal
    exit 0

    You will need to change to your specs… this can be generated with arandr (–> save layout under)
    And will produce a sh file with the xrandr line you will need.

    Do not forget to make the script executable:

    sudo chmod +x /etc/lightdm/greeter_setup.sh
