• Boot messages not shown

You all know the boot messages on VT-1 that are scolling over the screen while booting linux. I just installed Antergos onto my laptop and found that there are not shown any boot messages. It just says: “Loading linux kernel” and “Loading initial ramdisk”, after a few seconds the screen changes to the login screen.

Unfortunately, sometime the boot process freezes, so I’d like to see the messages. Can anyone help me to show the boot messages during boot?

  • Edit the /etc/default/grub file. Remove ‘quiet’ from the line ‘GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT=’ and regenerate your grub config with ‘grub-mkconfig -o /boot/grub/grub.cfg’. This should give you a more verbose boot process.

  • I have already done that, but there is not a single message. I also tried the keywords debug and ignore_loglevel. It looks as if the virtual terminal 1 (where logging happens) is not shown at all.
