• XF86Keyboard error after updating kernel.

Hey guys. Last night I upgraded my Arch system which included the kernel update. Upon reboot X refused to start with this error:

Unsupported high key code 372 for name I372. X11 cannot support keycodes above 255. Could not resolve keysym XF86Keyboard. Errors from xbcomp are not fatal to the X server.

I honestly cannot find a lot of information on this. Does anyone have any ideas?

I’m having a lot of issues after the last 3 upgrades here too, but not the same error than you.
One thing you can do is to access tty2, tty3 etc with Ctrl+Alt+F2, login and then update your system, finally reboot and hope it restarts working.

  • @fernandomaroto Hey there, updating the day after the errors started was my first attempt at fixing it. It did not work, sadly.

  • @cr0wley I’m seeing the same error message whenever I launch a terminal emulator. Did you find a fix or workaround?
