• Has there been any discussion regarding GTK3

Cinnamon was perfect. Not too much, not too little; BEAUTIFUL!!!
Then, along came the Gnome guys putting what should be Gnome DE specific stuff into the GTK3 library.
This causes all dependent DEs to acquire a Gnomeish look which is quite unbecoming IMO.
This has been discussed on a thread [on the Mangaro forum[/url:3pj5n4cl].
As suggested there, all my pure Arch machines freeze GTK3 at 3.10 for a consistant look for all my GTK3 applications:
    From my pacman.conf Ignore line:
    $ pacman -Qi gtk3 gtkmm3 gtksourceview3 gedit gksu libgksu libgtop gnome-terminal gnome-system-monitor file-roller | egrep -i "name|version"
    Name : gtk3
    Version : 3.10.7-1
    Name : gtkmm3
    Version : 3.10.1-1
    Name : gtksourceview3
    Version : 3.10.2-1
    Name : gedit
    Version : 3.10.4-2
    Name : gksu
    Version : 2.0.2-4
    Name : libgksu
    Version : 2.0.12-5
    Name : libgtop
    Version : 2.28.5-1
    Name : gnome-terminal
    Version : 3.10.2-1
    Name : gnome-system-monitor
    Version : 3.8.2.1-1
    Name : file-roller
    Version : 3.10.2.1-1

I recently dual booted my Manjaro machine with this distro and I must say that I really like and appreciate all the hard work that has gone into make Antergos a great distro.

    Thoughts, anyone?]0

  • It really has messed up cinnamon, xfce and is going to have a massive implications for mate which has decided to move to gtk3 for it 1.10 release. If you wan’t a taste of how bad it is just look at mate 1.9 gtk3.Gnomisation of gtk is not the way forward.

  • So I’ve gotten my ugly gnome gtk3 applications looking uniform on Atnergos Cinnamon 2.2.16 by downgrading all packages listed above. I’m quite happy with the result. Thanks, all.

UPDATE: My new lappy is Antergos.Cinnamon straight off the install media onto 3 fresh partitions on an MBR Windows 7 machine.
Chchi had no issues detecting M$ boot partitions and installing grub with a very nice boot menu. Thanks all!
(and, yes, downgrading above packages is still working just fine)
