    I have also set up touchpad config in xorg but it still not detecting it:

    $ sudo nano /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/30-touchpad.conf
    Section "InputClass"
            Identifier "libinput touchpad catchall"
            MatchIsTouchpad "on"
            MatchDevicePath "/dev/input/event*"
            Driver "synaptics"
    EndSection

    I hope you guys can guide me to the right direction 🙂
    Appreciate your help on this.
    Thanks.

  • have you tried installing the synaptics drivers? i believe they are on the AUR if you just look for them… after installing, reboot, and see what the output of xinput-list is

    If you pretend to be someone else? Who will be you?

  • @starrider synaptics is already installed previously but still not detected 😞

  • To get your touchpad working properly, see the libinput page.
    Touchpad Synaptics is the older input driver, which is currently in maintenance mode and is no longer updated.

    But there popping up quiete a lot problems with differentz touchpads at the moment… may it is kernel related…

    I would try booting with LTS kernel.

    (If you do not know how to do this… just ask…)

    At the current state of the synaptic drivers are going away and not all Desktop Environments are completed to use libinput, it should be the last option to fall back to synaptic drivers…

  • Hi @joekamprad ,

    I’ve been folowing that libinput page and still no luck (have tried with both libinput config & synaptics).

    I’ll try the LTS Kernel (fingercrossed).

  • Still no luck with Kernel LTS. Touchpad not detected 😞

  • @joekamprad it’s ASUS ROG GL553VD and here is the touchpad model:

    Vendor:ASUS
    Category:Touchpad
    Module:ELAN/SA473I-12A4

    Really appreciate your help on this :). Just curious if this config on /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/ is correct:

    $ cd /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/
    $ ls -lh
    total 16K
    -rw-r--r-- 1 root root  311 Jun  4 18:20 00-keyboard.conf
    -rw-r--r-- 1 root root  167 Jun 12 23:22 30-touchpad.conf
    -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 1.8K Jun 12 23:16 70-synaptics.conf
    -rw-r--r-- 1 root root  216 Jun  4 18:20 99-killX.conf

    Here is what’s in 30-touchpad.conf:

    Section "InputClass"
        Identifier "touchpad"
        Driver "libinput"
        MatchIsTouchpad "on"
        Option "Tapping" "on"
        Option "TappingButtonMap" "lmr"
    EndSection

  • @derriel short info noe, as i am off for a termin till noon…

    check where this 30-touchpad.conf is from:

    pacman -Qo /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/30-touchpad.conf

    will tell wich package installs this file…

    70-synaptics.conf is maybe a problem… as Archwiki say we should not use synapticv anymore and try libinput first! and i think that this conf is installed by Antergos (may a leftover)

    There is one /usr/share/X11/xorg.conf.d/40-libinput.conf you can u8se this instead by copy it to /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/

  • @joekamprad i ran that command and it’s stated:

    error: No package owns /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/30-touchpad.conf

    Maybe because i created that conf. So then I removed 70-synaptics.conf and copied 40-libinput.conf to /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/ did a reboot and still touchpad not recognized.

    I did pacman -Qo /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/40-libinput.conf it give the same output:

    error: No package owns /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/40-libinput.conf

    Have added the following configs to grub still no sign of touchpad:

    GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="i8042.noloop i8042.nomux i8042.nopnp i8042.reset

    Starting to get a feeling that my touchpad driver is not supported 😞

  • @derriel
    Maybe this gives some background and help: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Libinput

    Does command

    xinput --list

    give you anything about the touchpad?

    I’d also try moving those conf files (30 and 70) temporarily to another place and rebooting, could that help anything?

  • Hi @manuel ,

    Yup I already referred to that page. Got no clue why is not detected in both xinput and libinput.

  • @derriel
    Use Kernel parameter is always a bit try and error…
    I read that: i8042.kbdreset=1
    Is working for this model:
