• CAJA open file in vim

    hi all, first post!

i want to use vim as my default text editor, so whenever i double-click on a text file in caja, i want to open it in vim, inside mate-terminal

i’ve googled a lot and have tried a few things including making a vim.desktop file in ~/.local/share/applications, tried making a script file to open vim in terminal, but none of these work.

please help, thanking you in advance!

You don’t want to use gvim instead of vim?
With gvim, you can just right-click a file, select Open With, Other application, then select Gvim from the list of apps.
Make sure you have checked Remember this application for “…” files.
