Issues related to the GNOME desktop.
Antefree Gnome

The OP wasn’t intended as step-by-step instructions to follow blindly. It rather aims to give an overall idea about how to proceed with removal. Two identically configured computers don’t exist.

The idea is:

Check, what is about to be removed with -Rcnssu switches If more than one package are about to be removed, then stop Try to remove a package with less global -Rcnsu switch Again, if more than one package are about to be removed, then stop Try to remove a package with even less global -Rnsu switch Again, if more than one package are about to be removed, then stop Try to remove a package with innocent -Rnu switch Repeat steps above, gradually reducing the “removal strengh” until only one package, or only packages we want to remove, are proposed by pacman for removal

Most of the packages you’re asking about are removed in Antefree-Cinnamon, -Mate, -Plasma posts. Links a re given in the OP.

For remaining, not described removals follow steps 1-8 above.

I can only add that Antefree-Mate, -Gnome, -Cinnamon, -Plasma all work like a charm here. Lovely, nice, clean, joyful, simple Arch systems.

Good luck

Problem with plasma-nm and wireguard

I’m experiencing an issue with activating wireguard connections via plasma-nm.
I’m running:
plasma-nm 5.16.3.1
wireguard-arch 0.0.20190702-4
linux 5.2.1.arch2-1

I get 2 error messages when trying to activate the wireguard connection from Networks:
Connection xxx deactivated
The device could not be configured.

I can activate a wireguard connection from cli, but if the connection was created in the Connections dialog, I get the error messages. Plasma-nm 5.16.3.1 works with wireguard-arch 0.0. 20190702-2, but it broke when going to wireguard-arch 0.0. 20190702-3 and continues in wireguard-arch 0.0. 20190702-4.

Any suggestions on how to troubleshoot this problem?

Antefree Cinnamon

@roger64 said in Antefree Cinnamon:

…I’ll try it tomorrow.

Check whether or not antergos-cinnamon-meta is installed.

If yes, then it must be the first package to remove. Without dependencies:

sudo pacman -Rdnu antergos-cinnamon-meta

After that, it will be possible to proceed with one-by-one package removals, as described above.

Antefree Mate

I can’t help with Grub2-related things. I don’t use it, never install it, remove it immediately if it cannot be disabled at installation time.

Good luck
